In the summer of 1991, Marguerite Matthews was telling me about her bicycling vacation and I was moaning about not having gotten around to doing something similar. She said, well, you just have to go ahead and do it. So I did. That year I toured the Yellowstone -- Grand Teton area, and the next year southwest Washington and the Oregon coast.
